And then thousands of Shirakawa fanboys cried tears of happiness.
I originally thought this OVA would be about Nanaka and DCII so I was quite surprised when I suddenly saw Kotori and her sister in the beginning of the episode. Isn’t the first Da Capo anime from like 5 years ago? Man, it really took them such a long time to finally release something like this!

The best part of course is that this OVA is being produced by ZEXCS, the same guys who worked on the original DC series. I mean, I’m not really a huge fan of Kotori or anything like that, but since this isn’t done by the staff from the ‘D.C. II’ anime I guess this could turn out to be rather, uh… good?

Anyways, it was nice to see the rest of the original cast back one more time… even if they were just there for simple nostalgia purposes. But, wait, it feels like something’s missing here, doesn’t it? And this is where the bad news comes in:

It looks like, in this OVA’s universe… Nemu is dead. WTFFFF °A°;; I mean, they don’t even say it but it’s so heavily implied that there’s no room to think otherwise. Quite an interesting way to get the sister out of the picture. o_o; Oh, and Sakura is also nowhere to be seen, so I guess she must’ve been the one who choked Nemu (with cherry blossom petals) to death and now she gets to spend the rest of her life as an eternal loli… in prison!
In any case, without all the “Niiii-san!” and “Onii-chaaaan!”, this just doesn’t feel like Da Capo at all.

Also, it was plain hilarious to see Kotori BAWWWW like that under the almighty magical sakura tree. Whoa, like, did studio ‘feel’ help them with that single scene or something? I looked through the credits and I certainly didn’t see anything like “Bawfest Production and Direction by feel”!
(…Oh wait, maybe if Feel had really worked with that scene, then it’d have been much longer, with lots of slow motion, and Kotori would have shown more than 30 different funny facial gestures while Yui Horie exaggerated her WHYYYYYYY screams.)
omg Nemu is DEAD? Ugh ok I’m sorry I can’t watch this now. To me Nemu is the only DC character I care about lol sorry. Well I liked Miho (is that her name? the banana girl too)
P.S. OTTTTOOOUUUTTOOO KUUUNNNNNNNN~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!
“I guess she must’ve been the one who choked Nemu (with cherry blossom petals) to death”
LOL! I came to the same conclusion.
Personally the end scene with Kotori was better done than DCIISS’s corresponding scene with Otome because ZEXCS knows how not to dilute an emotional moment by overstretching it. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy Otome’s tears. After all DCIISS is the best thing to come out of the DC franchise after D.C I… and, lest I forget, after D.C.if too
If the Otome-bawling scene didn’t exist then I would have no comparison with Kotori’s crying scene. I guess DCIISS spoiled my DCif fun a bit.
